
OurToba Film Network Provides opportunities for women, non-binary, and gender diverse filmmakers to develop their artistic growth and careers through education, engagement, support, and empowerment. We are a not-for-profit organization run by creatives for creatives, empowering them to grow their skills and their horizons.
OurToba Film Network INC is seeking passionate and dedicated women, non binary, and gender diverse individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a board member, you will play a key role in shaping our vision, growth ensuring financial sustainability, and expanding our impact in the Manitoba Film Industry for women, non-binary, and gender diverse filmmakers. Board members will serve a 2 year term and are expected to attend meetings as active participants, assist with fundraising, advocacy, programming, outreach and growth.
We are looking for individuals with expertise in the film industry finance, fundraising, sponsorship, legal, marketing, nonprofit management, as well as a strong commitment to our mission. We strongly encourage applicants from a variety of backgrounds to apply. Our members are from diverse backgrounds and we thrive on different perspectives to best serve the organization and support its growth.
OurToba Basic Film Incubator
We are accepting applications from December 5, 2024 until January 6, 2025. Ten participants will be selected by a jury of peers to participate in the basic film incubator. The incubator is free of charge for all selected participants. During this 6-month film incubator, all steps and processes are covered from creative conception to the final cut β including the basics of screenwriting, directing, camera operation, lighting, sound and film editing.
During the course, the participants will be exposed to the process of shooting and editing a short film and short video such that they can create their own short for the final screening. At the end of the program, all films made will be screened at the Dave Barber Cinematheque with a moderated Q & A, hosted by OurToba with a post-screening reception in the lobby of the Artspace building.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
Applicant must identify as a woman, non-binary, or gender diverse filmmaker
Applicant must be at least 18 years old
Applicant must be a resident of Manitoba
Applicant must submit a filmmaker resume that lists any relevant filmmaker or artistic production experience, and mention any relevant education, projects whether they are DIY or industry based.
Applicant must submit a letter of intent with a short personal introduction, background, and why this film incubator resonates and how it could be beneficial
The submission fee is $15.00
